Today, I would like to promote very interest gym in United State “American Boxing & Fitness MMA Training Center” Popular gym in U.S.A.

Adding to the growing popularity of Muay Thai style kickboxing across the world is a new training center located in San Diego, California U.S.A., named American Boxing & Fitness. This Mixed Martial Arts & Fitness Training Center is home to a stable of Thai Boxers, Jiu Jitsu practitioners and MMA fighters. You may ask why this center is named American Boxing, well simply put; Muay Thai translates directly to “Boxing Thai”, hence Thai Boxing. Since these are Americans specializing in Thai Boxing, the name American Boxing seemed like a fun twist. These Thai Boxer’s feel it is important to understand that this is in no way an attempt to separate themselves from the great respect they have for their Thai Boxing roots and tradition, it is simply a fun play on words and name for their training facility.

The head trainer/owner of American Boxing & Fitness, Dave Nielsen began his Thai Boxing with former 2 Time World Champion Melchor Menor (the first American to participate in the King’s Birthday Tournament), he then continued his training with the King’s Birthday winner, European and World Champion Thai boxer Ole Laursen. Some years later Nielsen reunited with his first trainer Menor and continued his training and fight career. Though having fought only a handful of bouts, Nielsen through each came out the winner and is still undefeated in Thai Boxing and has been a student, trainer and fighter for nearly 7 years.

Having been trained and bread by some of the best Thai Boxers the World has to offer has lead Nielsen to have access to many great learning opportunities. Having trained with Ajarn Janjira (6 Time World Champion), Ajarn Apidej (Muay Thai “Superman”), Kru Kansak & Kru Bunkard to name a few!

Nielsen’s partner at American Boxing & Fitness is another Thai Boxer by the name of Gina Reyes. This female Thai Boxer had her first ever bout in Las Vegas with professional Muay Thai rules (boxing gloves & mouth piece only) at a show put on by Kru Vut Kamnark. Very few westerners you could find would have the mental strength alone to accept this challenge. Taking the win and showing the kind of spirit only a true Thai Warrior could display, Nielsen knew, Reyes was a training and business partner to be had! Reyes has herself trained with the likes of Kru’s Menor, Janjira, Matee, Pongsan, Kensak as well as Nielsen.

Nielsen and Reyes continue their Thai Boxing training throughout the USA and Thailand however; they are not currently training for the purpose of competition themselves. Rather, they choose to build a stable of elite competition athletes and new age fitness gurus for the future of Thai Boxing. They themselves are also Certified Sport & Fitness Trainers through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. At their training center, Certified Personal Training, Thai Boxing and Submission wrestling are taught. Nielsen’s beliefs on Thai Boxing are simple. “As an athlete for nearly 30 years, I feel completely confident in stating that Thai Boxing is the BEST workout I’ve ever had! It is also the most effective and diverse fighting art around with a broad range of devastatingly effective techniques from every distance! Whether you’re a man, woman or child doing this for sport, fitness, self defense or just the desire to enrich your mind and body, Thai boxing is the ultimate means to that end! Train hard, show respect and have fun!”

American Boxing & Fitness, Dave Nielsen and Gina Reyes along with their athletes, trainers and facility can be found and reached online at www.AmericanBoxing.net

Dave is our forum administrator. He very glad to reply any question about Muay Thai from his experience. If you have questions about Muay Thai, you can ask at http://forum.muaythaitalk.com .(Please ask at this forum, it’s good in sharing your question to other fighter and it’s useful for exchange your opinion with the other fighters.)
