I know many of you want to have Heavy Bag at your home so that you can practice all the punching and kicking moves at home to help improve your boxing or Muay Thai skills faster. But only having it might not be enough to reach your goal. You will have to know how to work out with it and that is what I’m going to talk about below.
If you have been working with Heavy Bag at a gym or somewhere else before, you must realize that it is not as easy as it seems. Knowing how to properly use a heavy bag is quite crucial. There are something you need to do before and during using the bag. Here we go!
Starting with wrapping your hands real good and put on bag training gloves, MMA gloves are also good for this purpose. When you start striking the bag, keep your wrist aligned with your forearm and punch with the top of knuckles.

When punching the bag, you can also do other boxing exercises at the same time. In different schools, the students might be taught differently but all the technique will work the same.
Here are the list of the things you must do while training with bag.
- Wrap your hands real good.
- Keep your hands guard all the time. Do not drop your hand down.
- Treat the bag as if it is a person that can hit you back.
- Practice some quick moves. You might create something for your own.
However, it’s not that necessary to buy yourself a heavy bag since it’s not that cheap. You can train with the bag at the gym you regularly go to. But if you insist, you can find it at any big sport store near your place or online.
